 In school, I studied Computer Science and Advertising. This education has given me a very strong background in areas such as web development, web design, programming, graphic design, art, marketing, advertising and public relations among others.
Since graduation, I have worked for a print design firm, an advertising agency and a web development firm, all located in and around Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I have worked on both ends of the spectrum at each job from a designer to an account manager to a marketing director. The experience and knowledge that I have gained in these positions has made me a very diverse freelance web designer. Good web designers are easy to come by. Finding a web designer who also is organized, communicates well, knows how to manage a project, knows how to build a user-friendly web site, understands hot to create a good balance between uniqueness and usability and knows how to drive traffic to that site is very rare.
From the very start of a web site design project, I will work through every step with you with constant communication. I will start off by learning about your business and finding out what it is you are looking to accomplish with a web site and will also offer suggestions. We'll organize these thoughts into a well thought-out site map - a blueprint of the site's organizational structure.
After a site map
has been developed and finalized, I'll begin work on the site's design. The design will be influenced by discussions we've had and any thoughts that you may have provided me with. Once a design has been presented and approved, the individual pages are built using that design as a template.
I have done freelance web design work for a variety of clients ranging from an international engineer's union to a one person Milwaukee based startup. I've done simple static sites that consist of only several pages, to sites with hundreds of pages, member login sections, administrative back offices, blogs, forums, RSS feeds, slideshows, videos... No web site is too small. No web site is too large.
Most web designers only know design. They don't always understand that a web site is a form of marketing so the design of the site isn't the only thing that matters. The web site design, the message, the functionality, the purpose and how it performs in search engines are all just as important as the next and it takes a unique person with a vast background to understand that and design a web site that fully utilizes the potential of the web.
